Counselling FAQ

What is the cost of a session?

Each session costs £60, although I do offer a reduced rate of £45 to students and those receiving benefits. To decide whether working with me is right for you, we will have a phone call to discuss your needs and confirm whether you'd like to book your first session. Please note that this phone call, which lasts up to 30 minutes, is free of charge. Additionally, I have a missed session policy in place to address any cancellations.

How long does each session last?

Each session lasts for 50 minutes.

How do I pay?

At the end of each session, you can settle the counselling cost using various payment methods such as bank transfer, cash, or cheque. My bank details are included in the contract you sign during the first session.

How many sessions would I need?

The number of sessions you might choose to have is up to you. You can stop at any time, but preferably we would end with a final session.

What if I miss a session?

To cover the counselling cost associated with room hire, my missed session policy states that sessions are charged at £15 if 48 hours notice is given. If no notice is provided, the session will be charged at the full rate.

What can I talk about?

You can talk about anything that may be troubling you. During the first session, I will explain the confidentiality in counselling and how it works in terms of safeguarding and the legal aspects. Additionally, I will address the counselling cost, missed session policy, payment methods, and session duration. I welcome any questions or concerns that you may have about this.

Who do you work with?

In my private practice, I work with individuals aged 16 and above, regardless of gender, culture, background, sexuality, or faith. I prioritize confidentiality in counselling to ensure a safe environment for all clients. I also provide clear information about counselling cost, missed session policy, and available payment methods to facilitate a smooth process.

Are you insured?

Yes, I have full public liability insurance.

What if something goes wrong?

As a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists), I adhere to their ethical framework below, which emphasizes the importance of confidentiality in counselling.

If you have any concerns or complaints about my work, especially regarding confidentiality in counselling, my hope is that you will feel able to share them with me verbally so we can work together to resolve them. If you do not feel comfortable speaking to me directly, please feel free to put your thoughts in writing, either as an email or a letter, and I will endeavour to respond within 10 working days. Should you wish to take the matter further, then this link provides a guide to help you.
